Taking notes
Sit around and watch the cat. When he's hungry he eats. When he's tired he sleeps. When he's grumpy he's grumpy. He doesn't complicates things and he's perfectly content.
Living in the moment and not living a lifetime of complicating things with self inflicted tail chasing. Do you ever truly view your life strictly one day at a time? One task, one occasion. Then move on to the next, without spending energy fretting about what is supposed to happen after, later, if and when. I lost my calendar a little while ago (it's still a mystery) and I was really worried for several days. Reasonably anxious. I tried to piece together things and appointments from memory. Then, the injury happened and I wouldn't have been able to go anywhere anyway. So I just let the anxiety go. Because I was forced to.
Can you hear what I hear today? It's peace and it's subtle but it's nice and it's different. I hope to retain some of this when I do get back on my feet.
If you have a chance, look through Jamie Livingston's a polaroid-a-day . He was a man who took a polaroid a day for almost 20 years (over 6,000). It's a stunning witness of the frail and fleeting moments of a life and the beauty of the everyday ordinariness of the passage of time. But, start with this if you want a great and quick recap of the whole project. It's awesome and eerie all at the same time!
